Wax in ear?
I have just had my right ear syringed to remove very hard wax ( which had been softened by Otex). The hearing came back soon after using the drops but then I started having buzzing in that ear. The leaflet warns that this can happen so I didn’t worry and anyway I was in France so couldn’t report it. On Thursday my doctor said my ear was still totally blocked and syringed it. I felt no difference at all as my hearing had already returned. Unfortunately the ringing didn’t stop although the tone became lower and quieter.
Are there any medical people out there who can tell me if you can have wax DEEP DOWN IN THE EAR WHERE THE DOCTOR CAN’T SEE IT because that is what it feels like? He thinks the noise may stop in a few days but if not it is tinnitus. He is referring me to an ENT specialist because I do have some hearing loss in the left ear but it will be weeks before I get an appointment. Would it be ok to go on using the Otex or some olive oil?

worm olive oil wont hurt it just makes the wax softer and it would be easyer for the doctor to clean the ear,do not use Q tips they will only push the wax more in if it’s not done right.
Same thing happened to me last week (I used Ceruminex).
The buzzing lasted about 4 days then it slowly went away over another 2 days.
Hope the same for you. That chirping or buzzing is really aggrivating.
warm olive oil
The doctor would be able to see the wax in your ear, but even if they couldn’t, the Otex would take care of it. It would be okay to continue using it, but ask your doctor to be sure.
ypu can continue to try to soften it up. don’t use q-tips. they just jam the wax into your ear. an ent is the correct way to go. good luck. this is a common problem – don’t worry about it too much. and as far as hearing loss – enjoy it if you can block out nagging and whiny people in the meantime!
A doctor can see inside the whole outer ear. You may have Eustachian tube blockage. Does it feel different when you open your jaw wide, or yawn?
Use the otex as directed, but keep cotton in your ear so it does not have a chance to dry out.
try SOLI WAX for time being but do take an appointment from a good ENT specialist
Try peroxide. My son has had problems with this since birth. The peroxide boils out the wax. Lay on your side and have somebody fill your ear with it, and let it bubble. About 10-15 minutes should get the deep wax out. Unfortunately, like my son, you will have this all your life. Most store-bought remedies are just peroxide anyways, read the ingredients. Then wash out your ear and the wax will flow out. While you’re bathing (in a shower), always rush the water into the ear cavity and you will have less problems in the long run. Good Luck!
I have a related problem.
I had a slight tinnitus and happened to use Otex in both ears… now the tinnitus is much stronger. It’s been a week or so.
The ENT didn’t see anything… and said maybe it’d be the result of a decompression of the was going out of the ear. But I find it hard to believe.
It may take several treatment to completely resolve the issue and make the ringing go away for good.
