I have Tinnitus, and I want to know how much the masker that looks like a hearing aid is?

I visited an ENT today and he said my tinnitus was due to hearing loss, so it most likely will never go away. He also said that my tinnitus was too minor to warrant a masker – only people with severe tinnitus that makes the individual consider suicide is bad enough according to him. Also, I was told my hearing loss was too minor to warrant a hearing aid. In other words, he told me to go home – there’s nothing that can be done to help me.

Does anyone have any advice for me? The last three months have been hell for me even if it is considered minor.

I’ve had tinnitus for about 2 months so far. I hope it will go away…until then, how can I go about masking it?

I can’t hear my tinnitus in the shower or when I run water in the sink. However, when I run a fan in my room, I can still hear it. Do actual white noise machines work better? What about tinnitus maskers from an audiologist – do they work?

I am currently trying to get an appointment with an ENT. Who knows, maybe it’ll go away. It started with a minor ear infection and a retracted eardrum. Ears are better now but the ringing remains ;_;.
