I’m almost 17 and my moms side of the family has had a history of ringing ears. I’ve had it before but last year in October I got my tragus pierced and I’m thinking maybe the piercer did something wrong to damage nerves nearby. I stopped wearing earrings because the piercing never healed but it is now cause it’s been almost 4 months since I wore jewelry in it. But I’m having more occurrences with ear ringing. Sometimes my hearing goes funny in the ear for a few minutes but goes back to normal. It’s only my left ear (the one that was pierced)

I’ve always had problems with my jaw, like it locking when I sleep and having to massage it to get it to unlock when I wake up but just recently I’ve noticed a noise in my ear when I chew. It sounds water in my ear but I haven’t been swimming in at least 3 months and if I try to get water out, nothing happens. Any advice would be nice, thanks.

Hey everyone. Last Wednesday I took a couple shots of .380 without ear protection. In the 6 months prior, I took around 9 shots of .40 S&W unprotected also. I felt a stuffiness in my ear Wednesday after getting home, and then I believe Friday I noticed symptoms of Tinnitus, so say it’s been about a week. I still am noticing it, but it’s either going away, or I’m getting used to it.

Music is my life, all around. I’m really into Rap/Hip Hop because of the beats. I planned on making a career out of being a DJ, and maybe moving up in the future. I honestly think that if this is permanent I’m going to commit suicide. The reason is, hearing loss is cumulative. So, sounds that wouldn’t have hurt my hearing in the past, now will because I think these shots accelerated my hearing loss. I’m not sure what to do.

I have an appointment with an Audiologist/ENT next week, but I can pretty much tell you that by reading online I’ve found out all I need to know about Tinnitus. I DON’T want this, and although I can, I’m NOT going to live with this. Please can somebody, anybody please try to atleast calm me down? I do not want this forever. I want to go back to normal. I also want to hurt myself for being so stupid and shooting without protection. I’ve always used protection in the past, but I didn’t think a few shots would be this bad to my ears. I’m going CRAZY. Please help guys. Thank you.

recently, my computer speakers blew out and I been having trouble getting new ones since i am broke. I have a nice pair of headphones however and I like the way they sound for games I play. well i usually don’t play games for more then 2 hours on my computer, but if I did, would this cause hearing problems? I never use headphones, and this would be new for me. I don’t blast them loud, im just mostly concerned for how long until it will start effecting me

I have now learned that this is called tinnitus. The buzzing was severe enough for me to seek medical help, ENT, neutrologist, and psychiatrc. Brain MRI shows no problem. I did have a history of exposure to loud noise from work, which I changed after I developed tinnitus. A funny thing about this tinnitus is that when I focus on something, it goes away completely. Also, gentle sounds mask it completely. However, in a loud resturant, I hear the buzzing much louder, over the clatter of the restaurant. It goes up with the ambient volume.

The rining is completely within my head. I can not tell which ear it is coming from. I have mornings when I imagine that I don’t hear it.

Do I have a psychological tinnitus, like hearing voices? Or is this a more or less, a typical tinnitus?
