I think I found the cause of my Tinnitus. About 6 months ago shot a rifle for the first time without ear plugs and it made my ears ring.

About a month ago noticed a slight ringing in my right ear when my ears are covered and sometimes when they’re not.

Went to the ENT to have it checked. 3 tests: Hearing, Ear Hair Health (the tiny hairs that would be damaged from loud noise), and Pressure/Fluid Check.

Tests show no hearing loss (hearing is good), Hairs are fine (no damage), And no pressure/fluids.

Buddy said he used to shoot and knows people who hunt without ear plugs, and they don’t have ringing.

I do have a slight case of TMJ, my jaw pops sometimes when chewing and when I open it wide, but I’ve always had this with no tinnitus.

So I guess the gunshot did it???? The ENT said it is possible.

Since my ear is fine, will the Tinnitus eventually dim, or subside, and go away? If not what can I do to make that happen?

Also, Do you think it could have been from the gunshot?

I just get really worried about it because it was never there before, and when I hear it, it kinda makes me depressed and wish I never shot that gun and have taken better care of my ears before.

Any way to make the ringing go away?

I went to a NASCAR race today and i was 5 rows from the front. and believe me, it was LOUD! my ears have been ringing for the last few hours and i have to go to sleep soon so i can wake up well rested for the tests i have for school tomorrow. any advice on what to do?

I want to go to college to be an Occupational Therapist. But, the problem is that I have arthralgia, severe allergies, moderate asthma, and tinnitus. Heck, I get occupational/physical therapy myself! I want to be an occupational therapist because I know what it feels like to be in extreme pain and to be injured. But do you think my health, especially my arthralgia would make me not good for the job? I mean, sometimes I’m fine, but other times (like right now) I’m in so much pain that I can hardly move. But I suck it up and move as best as I can. My doctor said that I have a high Rh factor and a boarder line ANA so its a big possibility that I can/will develop moderate to severe arthritis in a few years, but I don’t want that to stop me from my dream job. But for now I’m just in the beginning stages of a disease that will ruin my life. What do you think? Thanks!

Had slight ringing in right ear. Went to Ear Nose and Throat Doctor. Did tests. Passed all, everything was ok, hearing, no fluid, no wax, and the tiny hairs were not damaged.

Trying to find the cause of the tinnitus. Not taking any medications. Have narrowed it down to a couple things though….
