When is a good time to start to potty train a child who cannot talk yet? My son had tubes put in his ears when he was 1 1/2, and just turned 2. My fiance wants to start to potty train him now, but i think that because of his hearing problems that it will be much more difficult for him to let us know when he has to use the potty. His vocabulary consists of a handful of words, and will be starting to see a speech therapist soon. Has anyone else went through this, and if so, how did you work on potty training with your child?
I personally dont think he is ready and I am in no hurry. I know kids develop at their own pace, and he will show me when he has to go. I just am not sure how to approach it when it is time. If it is the same as training a child with regular hearing or not.
2 is a bit young- and i know that. I was thinking maybe within the year… Its more his dad who thinks we should do it now.
