I have Meniere’s Disease and normally just have loud, loud tinnitus in my right ear – constantly. I’ve lost most of the hearing in my right ear. Sometimes, however, it pulses with my heart and this worries me greatly.
I was first diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease when I was 13 years old. I have seen many doctors. But something that has fallen through the cracks is this: when I was 15, I was supposed to have an MRI. However, I got very claustrophobic and could not carry through with it. I was meant to be in again, to be rescheduled, but it fell through the cracks and we all forgot about it.
The cause of my pulsatile tinnitus was never found. I had an EKG when I was 16. I am 21 now. Doctors have sort of labelled me "Meniere’s Disease" and decided that that is that and there can be no treatment because doctors don’t know anything about Meniere’s Disease.
Lately I am scared that if it is something serious causing the occasional pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear, it has gone undiagnosed for so many years. This terrifies me to the point where I am scared to go in to see the doctor. What could be causing this? What should I do?
Could this be genetic? My mom has the same pulsatile tinnitus but has never seen a doctor about it. I didn’t know that it could be serious until now, really.
crap that’s so expensive. and im poor don’t have insurance. general md would charge 50 for a visit, but for ears he may not have good techniques . Last time i did go to MD and he did the irrigation technique of wax removal..that was awesome before, and it worked..but now i’ve had tinnitus, and ruptured ear drum(healed already) and it says in web sites that if you have a history of eardrum rupture or pains, that the irrigation technique is not recmmended. i don’t know if my MD will have anyother techniques
I have this "power" i believe, because i can make a noise in my ears, and when i do it sounds like an earthquake and after a while my muscles start to get tense, and i get strong. I can control this, but i want to know is this normal? Does anyone else have this? If you do, i want to know because everyone thinks im crazy when i tell them about this.
I have been suffering with hearing loss most of my life. I have been trying to cope with tinnitus for about 5 months. I went to an ENT about a month ago and he basically told me to live with both. He said 20 db of hearing loss and minor tinnitus would be something I have to cope with.
1 month later, I am back in school. I can’t hear that well and it’s a struggle sometimes. My tinnitus drives me nuts. I dunno what to do. I thought about going to another ENT to get a second opinion on what might be causing my tinnitus. I’ve also thought about going to an audiologist to get a hearing aid (or at least a second opinion on whether or not I need one).
My family isn’t very supportive right now and telling me to quit whining and deal with it. What should I do?
